How to Lower Thermal Energy Costs Dualite Blog FI

Maximizing a building's thermal insulation reduces the amount of energy needed to heat and cool interior spaces. Because of this, maximizing thermal insulation is very appealing. Products like cool roof coatings and spray polyurethane foam are commonly used to insulate structures. The use of microspheres in these products further improves their ability to insulate homes and buildings.

Dualite® E comes with many benefits. In addition to cost savings and weight reduction, Dualite® E lowers the thermal conductivity of the final product. Using Dualite® E in a formula introduces stable, hollow, closed-cell voids into the material.

Thermal conductivity is a measure of the rate at which heat is conducted through a material. A material that is a good heat conductor will have a high thermal conductivity value. A material that is a good insulator will have a low thermal conductivity value.

Several loading levels of Dualite® E065-135D were mixed with polyester resin and tested for thermal conductivity according to ASTM E1530 at 50° C.

The addition of only 1% of E065-135D decreased thermal conductivity (increases insulation) by over 15%. The addition of 3% E065-135D decreased thermal conductivity by over 25%, and the addition of 5% decreased it by over 35%.

Dualite® E was also tested for thermal properties according to ASTM D5334. This method measures the thermal conductivity of Dualite® in its bulk form, which includes about 50% air that is trapped in between the Dualite® E particles. The samples were tested at 23° C.

The R-value was calculated from the thermal conductivity data. R-value is a measure of apparent thermal conductivity and describes the rate of heat energy transfer through a material. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulation the material will provide.

Why Choose Dualite E Series?

Did you know that Microspheres are used in Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF)?

Spraying polyurethane foam insulation is the best way to preserve the heat within the building and therefore reduce energy consumption.

Dualite E series Microspheres are used in the construction industry increasing energy efficiency in homes and businesses across the country.

Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation manufacturers utilize expanded microspheres in their formulations due to their superior thermal energy efficiency. It also helps with air quality and sound dampening.
